the project: tonic original tees

The original Tonic collection of limited-edition tees was our first effort to help people do good things. Our goal for the project was simple and clear: to create cool and fashionable tees that allowed one to look great and practice “effortless activism” at the same time.
These Tees are designed as a form of one-to-one giving, where each purchase conveys a measurable difference for a person or an organization somewhere in the world. They are made from environmentally conscious, sustainable bamboo and organic cotton, confirmed fair-trade and fair-labor, feature original Tonic designs, and have a message about the tee’s impact printed on the back. They are also the softest and most comfortable tees you will ever wear.
our partner: tara subkoff

Tonic guest designers created these tees as our first creative endeavor. We wanted to showcase both our own brand and the specific causes that each tee supports. Each design is composed of elements that represent the tee’s mission for change: water droplets for the Water tee, leaves for the Tree tee, and butterflies to represent the malaria nets sent when one purchases the Net tee. As our first “guest designer,” actress and fashion designer Tara Subkoff designed the Education Tee, featuring an
artful collage of ancient lettering and script.
your impact

An average of 43% of sales from the Tonic Original Tees benefits four global causes. Each Tonic tee has a measurable impact upon the environment, social welfare, and poverty. The Tree Tee plants 25 trees across North and Central America, focusing on deforested areas where there is habitat loss or areas that have suffered a fire. The Net Tee sends 3 insecticide treated bed nets to families in sub-Saharan Africa, to help prevent the spread of malaria. The Water Tee provides 1 person in Honduras with a lifetime of clean water. Finally, the Education Tee helps educate three children in India – and we are seeking a worthy organization to help us achieve this goal so please contact Tonic with any ideas. So far, sales of these tees have generated over $30,000 for their causes. Photo: Fresh water for a community in Honduras - a major Water 1st project sponsored by Tonic.
